Big Ten football is back!!!

It's official: the Big Ten is back!!!

Rumors swirled Tuesday as several reporters heard rumblings that a vote had been passed for the conference to return to play and an announcement would be made. While the official announcement did not come that day, we now officially have word.

The conference made an announcement Wednesday that the schools had decided to play football this fall in a unanimous vote. The decision was apparently due to new medical information. The conference will have players, staff, and anyone else closely involved with the programs to undergo daily antigen testing before practices and games.

The schedule has yet to be released, but Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez said it would be a 8+1 schedule. That means each team will play 8 regular season conference games. Then, on championship weekend, the teams will play their counterpart from the opposite division (1st place in east vs 1st place in west, 2nd place east vs. 2nd place west, etc). I have to say that's a unique formula that I really like. The conference has championship weekend scheduled for December 19.

You can get more info here. I will post a conference preview sometime during the week leading up to the games.
