Coaching Hires: Norvell headed to Tallahassee

Memphis football coach Mike Norvell has accepted the same position at Florida State. The new came down this weekend, shortly after the Tigers beat Cincinnati to win the American Conference championship and secure a spot in the Cotton Bowl.

The 38-year-old Norvell replaces Odell Haggins, who replaced Willie Taggart after just 21 games. It has been reported that Haggins will stay on Norvell’s staff.

In 4 years at Memphis, Norvell held a 38-15 record. His winning percentage is the highest in school history. He also has an outstanding 14-1 record in November games.

Norvell’s deal with the Seminoles is reportedly for 6 years.
