College football Week 14 preview

Updated: Dec 3, 2020

15 Oklahoma State @ TCU

Oklahoma State wasn't all that convincing against Texas Tech last week. The Cowboys will need a good showing against a better TCU team. The Horned Frogs already upset Texas earlier in the season and could wipe out Oklahoma State's Big 12 title hopes.

12 Indiana @ 16 Wisconsin

Indiana grinded out a win over Maryland last week, while Wisconsin had yet another game cancelled. The Badgers can't win the Big Ten West anymore because of the number of games they've played, but they'd sure like to rebound from their loss to Northwestern. Indiana is still playing for the Big Ten East, especially if Ohio State ends up ineligible for the Big Ten Championship. Wisconsin provides a tough opponent for the Hoosiers, who will have to play the rest of the season without QB Michael Penix Jr. This game should show how well they can stack up against the conference's best teams without him.

West Virginia @ 9 Iowa State

Iowa State has a slight lead in the Big 12, and this is the final game on its regular season schedule. A win gives them the title, but West Virginia is trying to cause some chaos before all is said and done. The Mountaineers have an outside shot at tying multiple teams for second place if they win out and get some help, so expect them to give the Cyclones a battle.

Baylor @ 11 Oklahoma

Oklahoma will be rooting for West Virginia as it tries to claim a spot in the conference championship. The Sooners lost the head-to-head matchup against Iowa State, so the best they can do is claim second place due to the tiebreaker. However, with two games remaining, Oklahoma could fall behind Oklahoma State and even fall into a tie with Texas and West Virginia. The Sooners beat Texas, so they have the tiebreaker there, but they still have to play West Virginia. A Baylor upset could heat up the race even more.

25 Louisiana @ Appalachian State

These teams are very similar. Both played tightly contested games against undefeated Coastal Carolina, who handed each team its only conference loss of 2020. App State also played a solid game at unbeaten No. 21 Marshall earlier this year. Louisiana and Coastal have both already clinched a conference championship berth, but App State has the players to pull off this minor upset.

Liberty @ 18 Coastal Carolina

Coastal Carolina puts its undefeated season on the line against a one-loss Liberty team. Liberty has wins over Syracuse and Virginia Tech, and its first loss came by a single point at NC State two weeks ago. While Coastal is undefeated, it hasn't faced any Power 5 teams this year. I'm intrigued to see if that matters much, or if the Chanticleers finish out their unbeaten season.

**Liberty has pulled out of this game due to a COVID issue. No.13 BYU will be taking its place.
