Jarvis Landry Signing with Saints
ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry is signing a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints. Landry has confirmed the move on social media.
The 29-year-old was released by the Cleveland Browns earlier this offseason after four seasons with the team. The Browns acquired Landry in March 2018 for a 2018 fourth-round pick and 2019 seventh-round pick and signed him to a five-year contract extension a month later. He had a 1,174-yard season in 2019 but has dealt with injuries the last two years.
Landry was drafted out of LSU by the Dolphins in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He spent four years as the top receiving threat in Miami and received the franchise tag after his rookie contract expired- which contributed to the eventual trade with Cleveland.
The Saints have had to replenish their offense with playmakers on the outside to help take some of the pressure off of RB Alvin Kamara and whoever ends up playing quarterback. Landry is a great addition to go with the expected return of Michael Thomas, rookie Chris Olave, and breakout second-year Marquez Callaway.
