NFL News Round Up
A lot has happened in the past 24 hours. I haven’t been able to keep up individual articles about it, so I’ll just summarize it here.
Jets Trade LB Darron Lee
Adam Gase made his first move as interim GM, trading the former 1st round linebacker. He goes to the Chiefs for a 2020 6th round pick. Lee had fallen out of favor with New York, and Kansas City could use all the help they can get on defense.
Patrick Peterson Suspended
The Cardinals’ star has reportedly been suspended for 6 games for violating the league PED policy. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport added that Peterson had tested positive for a PED and a masking agent. This will be a tough setback for a defense with unproven corner depth.
Falcons’ assistant GM resigns
Also reported today, Atlanta assistant GM Scott Pioli is leaving the team “to pursue other opportunities.” It is unclear if that means in football, but he would be a top candidate for the open Jets job. Pioli served as the GM for Kansas City from 2009 to 2012 and comes from the New England player personnel tree.
