Thursday Night Football Week 14

This week's Thursday night game features the New England Patriots (6-6) visiting the NFC West-leading Los Angeles Rams (8-4). These two teams last met in Super Bowl LIII, which was a defensive battle that New England won 13-3.

The Rams enter this game tied for first place in the NFC West with the Seattle Seahawks. They have an offense that can put up points and a defense that can wreak havoc on opposing offenses, plus one of the best punters in the game. That will come in handy if this turns into a field position game. This game will be challenging for the LA offense because the New England defense is one of the league's best.

Likewise, New England's offense will have a huge challenge against the LA defense, which is also one of the league's best. The Patriots exploded for 45 points against the Chargers on Sunday, but there's no reason to expect that in this one. The Rams' defense matches up ,much better against New England's scarce weapons, which should make this a relatively low scoring game. Sometimes teams can have trouble playing games on the opposite coast, but New England played in LA last week too, so you wouldn't think it would be an issue.

New England is trying to keep its slim wild card chances, while LA is trying to improve its seeding in the NFC. With two great defenses, scoring could be hard to find. The team that finds more advantages against the opposing defense will pull this one out.

The game airs at 8:20 PM ET on Fox and the NFL Network.
